[ Shouto leaves a wooden crate at D's door the day before the bake-off. Inside the crate are 12 half-pint mason jars full of jams, each labeled with their names (apricot jam, strawberry jam, etc). On top of the crate is a small card that simply says

Behold your very own anti-corruption jam, handmade with TLC (tough love and carelessness). Beware of taste, but good for corruption! Some lucky people may wait to try it after they see his poor performance at the bake-off and may want to think twice about trying it. Doesn't help that he was robbed for all he's worth spending about two pints of blood for ingredients. Also, a few of those jams might be cursed. Please look at the 'Seasonal Details on the Boardwalk' to see just what curse you've got with each jam and yup, all the cursed fruit is there. He really knows how to pick 'em! ]

1/2 cup apricots (not pitted)
1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoon oyster sauce
3 half-inch pieces of ginger
Boiled (some charring, taste a little burnt)

2) Strawberry Jam
1/2 cup strawberry (stems and all)
1/2 cup sugar
4 tablespoon fish sauce
3 half-inch cinnamon stick (left in the jam)

3) Mango Jam
1 mango (not pitted or skinned)
1 cup sugar
4 tablespoon hoisin sauce
3 whole stars of anise (left in the jam)

1/2 Papaya (seeds added, not skinned)
1 cup sugar
4 tablespoon tamari sauce

1/2 cup sugar
4 basil leaves
4 tablespoon light soy sauce
3 whole cardamom pods (left in the jam)

D. You need to look at that video that the ShenYuan user just posted. And I mean right away. I know you have blood roses out at the outpost haven. Looks like they ended up growing into something dangerous. Best not to take risks.

I've kept an eye on Varre and his roses. The roses are fine, or at least the ones I took to put at the outpost are. Something may have happened to the roses left there.

Varre carries cursed blood, from a source similar but different to my own. They don't spread through bites, but from injecting blood. There's no good equivalent for what he is in terms of the Nobility, except that he'd be similar to a bite victim.

I appreciate your review of my Trench retelling of my elopement with Charlotte. The corrupted hunter, rather than the Pthumerian, grabbing Charlotte is a literary improvement. Unfortunately, I must say I cannot entirely make sense of your other major change. Is it inspired by the attack on the Barbarois? I never had good footage of that.

Clarification for the change would be appreciated.

[ On the week of the 25th, D will find a very large wrapped package with his name on it outside of his coffin. It will smell heavily of Sharon and chemicals and paint. It's a hefty thing and must've taken great effort on her part to lug it all the way to his current place. When he unwraps it, he'll find a a large painting with Sharon's signature in the lower corner. There's a smaller gift that tumbles out once the first one is unwrapped. This one is a heavy stone ring with a tiny coldbloodstone in its center.

A note accompanies the gifts.

[This year, Maul had decided to behave himself when it came to giving gifts, unlike in years past where he broke into people's houses rather like Santa himself did. All gifts are left on the porch or front step of the recipient's home for them to find in the morning.

It took a while to figure out what to give D. It was hard to read the dhampir or think of what he would appreciate. It wasn't like he could get the man knives like he'd done for so many others, not when a mere wooden needle was a weapon in his hands. Ultimately, he went with a sketch of D, something unique that no one else could replicate. Accompanying it was a note in blocky handwriting wishing her a Merry Christmas signed from Darth Maul.]

[ with preparations finalized and everything coming down to the scheduled time, falco appears to D's home one day soon when summoned. he'd agreed to all the risks, and side effects, all seemingly a touch better than being a ticking time bomb toward an early death and staying host to an eldritch horror. all that had been discussed was purely speculation, nothing set in stone or even certain. but, trying was better than waiting. he trusts sharon. he trusts D, too.

it's natural to be apprehensive, it was fairly palpable in the way his shoulders are tense and how his brows krinkle. he's standing tall and ready, nevertheless, hovering behind D as he's guided to whatever room, space or chamber, and awaiting guidance on what he should do. breathe in, and breathe out strong. he's got this. it's a bite and it will pass. well, the act would.

he has no intention of backing away. ]
