Sealing him could get us a similar amount of time, with the option of keeping an eye on him instead of not knowing where or when he'll become a problem.
We're not in a good position to kill a Pthumerian currently. But it's something we should work on.
Sealing him is the direction I think we should try first. Obviously. If that doesn't work, we split his soul apart, kill the stronger pieces, and then seal the weakest. If that doesn't work, we try complete death.
